Planning

Plan your wedding in 10 steps (in the right order)

Not a random checklist. Ten steps with dependencies: budget before venue, venue before invitations, RSVPs before seating chart.

Most guides list ten bullets in arbitrary order. In practice, some steps block the next ones. Here is the sequence we recommend after watching many couples on Fiancé.

The 10 steps in order

1. Set total budget (a ceiling, not a vague range)
2. Pick a date or 2 to 3 month window
3. Estimate guest list (high and low bounds)
4. Book the reception venue
5. Hire caterer and photographer
6. Confirm music, flowers, officiant if needed
7. Send invitations and collect RSVPs
8. Finalize menu, seating chart, and lodging
9. Lock attire, rings, day-of schedule
10. Final coordination with witnesses and vendors (2 to 7 days out)
One late step is not a detail: it shifts everything that depends on it.

Where couples slip most often

Comparing photographers before having a budget. Sending invitations before the date is firm. Building a seating chart before RSVPs.
If you hesitate between two steps, ask: "Do I need the answer before moving on?"
