Renting: the simplest, not always the cheapest
•
Vases, candle holders, candelabras rented from an event company or the florist
•
Setup and pickup often included, no logistics on your end
•
Choice limited to the rental company's catalog, less personalization
•
Worthwhile mostly for expensive pieces (large candelabras, structures) not worth buying
Buying: worthwhile if you resell or reuse
•
Simple vases and containers bought at a market or online, often resellable afterward
•
The investment stays with you, usable for other occasions
•
Requires storage and transport on the day
•
Pays off mostly beyond about fifteen tables, where renting adds up
DIY: time for a smaller budget
•
Simple arrangements (jars, dried flowers, candles) doable without special skill
•
Material cost usually well below a florist-made centerpiece
•
Do not underestimate assembly time: multiply it by your number of tables
•
Test on one or two tables before committing to the full set
Coordinating with your seating chart
Centerpiece size and height depend directly on your table size and number of guests per table. A piece too tall or too wide gets in the way of conversation and eats into plate space. Finalize your table layout before locking in centerpiece dimensions, not the other way around.
